AUTOMATION GUTTING AUSSIE JOBS

🚨 AUTOMATION SET TO GUT 1.5 MILLION JOBS FROM AUSTRALIAN ECONOMY 🚨

A Forrester report released yesterday says “Australia’s job market will shrink by 11%, or 1.5 million workers, by 2030, as artificial intelligence and automation continue to reshape workforces globally.”

Are you reading this post because of the first line? It’s a real headline from a national Australian newspaper yesterday.

Fear means clicks, right? But the headline misses half the story.

The report later says “As automation gets more advanced, some jobs will be lost, new ones will be created (1.7 million by 2030)”. Isn’t this a net jobs gain? Very different jobs to now, no doubt – the labour market is changing.

Also the report says “Workers unable or unwilling to accept the transition will depart the traditional workforce entirely.”

So why don’t we get to work helping these workers rather than scaring them?

Here’s another headline, from the UK in November: “ZURICH TO RETRAIN 3,000 UK EMPLOYEES FOR THE FUTURE OF WORK”.

Can we start seeing these sorts of headlines here, please?

The UK article is worth a read – it’s an uplifting, positive response to the reality of a changing workplace.
